Ard Daraich Hill Garden.
Overlooking Ben Nevis and Glen Coe, Ard Daraich is the former holiday home of Constance Spry set in 8 acres of Hill Garden with an important collection of Rhododendrons, Acers and other rare trees and shrubs.
For the last 50 years we have built a collection of ericaceous plants including over four hundred Rhododendron, species and hybrids, Acers and Sorbus trees - a collection that has been noticed by specialists including the International Dendrologist Society. The land opposite the house has now become an interesting woodland with Styrax, Davidia, Liquidamber and Stachyurus. The house is bordered at the front with a Camellia (Debbie) hedge, which is spectacular in the spring.
Ard Daraich - Opening times:
Open for contributions to the maintenance and for groups by prior arrangement only. WC in house available to visitors. Steep paths and steps.
We also offer self catering in a comfortable cottage for two, the Garden Studio. Open plan living in the heart of the garden. (dogs welcome)
