Mount Grace Priory and Gardens, North Yorkshire
Mount Grace (Carthusian) Priory and Gardens are a great place to visit, with a Cottage Garden designed by Chris Beadshaw and the re-creation of a Monk's House with small walled Garden. The Arts and Crafts House in front of the 14th century Priory is open.
The amazing Mount Grace Priory and Gardens near Northallerton are a great visit. The garden in front of the House was designed by Chris Beardshaw with colourful borders leading down to a Cottage Garden area with a small pond. You are then taken up to a more informal area with a Summerhouse. There is also a wild flower meadow with a larger pond where you can sit and watch the wildlife.
The historic Priory was founded in 1398 and was created for the Carthusians and lived as hermits in small houses, each with a small walled garden. One of these has been re-created
and give a fascinating insight to how the monks spent their lives.
This is a wonderful place to discover and learn!
