Castle Kennedy and Gardens, near Stranraer
Do not miss this great garden at Castle Kennedy . Certainly a must visit.
It has been the Stair family's honour to create, restore and care for one of Scotland's hidden treasures for almost 300 years.
These important historical Gardens, situated on an isthmus, consist of 300ha (75 acres) of sculptured landscapes, and magnificent avenues radiating out from the iconic Castle Kennedy ruin. Described as 'one of the showpieces of Galloway', it is one of Scotland's most important historical landscaped gardens with its collection of Rhododendrons, Championship Trees and rare species. Due to the influence of the Gulf Stream, it provides a micro climate not found in many other parts of the United Kingdom.
The Gardens are perfect for exploring and provides a fun day out for families, with a charming Tea Room, Gift Shop and Plant Centre. With events such as guided walks, open air theatre, concerts and our famous Halloween Festival running throughout there year, there is something on to suit every taste.
