Pitmedden Gardens, near Aberdeen

The centrepiece of Pitmedden is the Great Garden which was originally laid out in 1675 by Sir Alexander Seton, 1st Baronet of Pitmedden.

Pitmedden is a stunning and eye-catching garden full of colour, not only from the plantings in the parterres but in the herbaceous borders which fringe the walls.
The elaborate designs inspired by the garden at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh have been painstakingly re-created for the enjoyment of visitors at Pitmedden Garden.
Make sure you see the garden from every angle to make the most of your visit.
In the autumn you can taste the harvest from the unusual varieties of apples grown in the garden.
In 2022 the Upper Terraces were replanted to a more naturalistic design by Chris Beardshaw.
There is also a one and a half mile woodland walk.
In the 100-acre estate at Pitmedden is situated the very fine Museum of Farming Life which presents a vivid picture of the lives and times of bygone days when the horse was the power in front of the plough and farm machinery was perhaps less complicated than today.
