Mount Stewart Gardens

Mount Stewart House & Gardens

Mount Stewart is one of the most unique and unusual gardens that the Trust owns.

Mount Stewart House and Gardens, Northern Ireland - The House contains a rich tapestry of design and the great planting artistry that was the hallmark of Edith, Lady Londonderry. The climate of Strangford Lough allows astonishing levels of planting experimentation.

The formal garden areas exude a strong Mediterranean feel and resemble an Italian villa landscape, while the wooded areas support a range of plants from all corners of the world – ensuring something to see whatever the season.
An exciting £7million restoration project is underway in the house. Key elements of the project include structural work, improving the services, window repairs and a new conservation heating system.
In addition the new conservation studio provides the opportunity to see conservation of the collection.
This important conservation work will ensure this fascinating house and its contents are protected for many years to come.
