Seaton Delaval Hall Gardens
Discover the formal garden at Seaton Delaval Hall with its manicured lawns and topiary, stroll through the relaxed, wildflower-laden woodlands, plus Snowdrops, Rhododendrons and Azaleas
Seaton Delaval (National Trust) Garden was designed in the early 18th century by Sir John Vanbrugh as a Baroque landscape for Admiral George Delaval
The gardens too are undergoing restoration in places but you can explore the formal garden with its manicured lawns and topiary, stroll through the relaxed, wildflower-laden woodlands, plus Snowdrops, Rhododendrons and Azaleas.
The Central Hall at Seaton Delaval is regarded by many as the finest work of Vanbrugh, who also designed Castle Howard and Blenheim Palace. His career as a playwright is apparent throughout the house, as in the raked stage of the South Portico.
Parts of this historic House are also open - see NT Website for more details.
