There is a Victorian parterre garden remodelled in the 1930s by Norah Lindsay, consisting of four herbaceous borders and yew topiary around a 17th century fountain. The garden also features a Doric Temple, orangery, formal wilderness garden with radial walks and Secret Garden. There is also a large lake and many attractive walks.
At the time of our visit work was taking place on the Walled Garden.

The fascinating Jacobean mansion is also open and is worth seeing with its 4 centuries of history and grand interiors.

Pensthorpe

Pensthorpe set amongst a series of lakes with an abundance of wildfowl has 4 main Gardens including the Millennium Garden at Pensthorpe Natural Park was designed by Piet Oudolf, the internationally acclaimed plantsman. His revolutionary style of naturalistic planting fits so perfectly into the landscape at Pensthorpe that it is difficult to see where the garden begins and ends. This garden is best visited from mid July onwards.
At the time of our visit there were beautiful displays of wild flowers.
The  lakes are a great place for bird spotting with several hides.
