Old Bladbean Stud Garden, near Canterbury

Winner of The Nation’s Favourite Garden in the South East, Old Bladbean Stud is a unique fusion of cutting-edge environmental gardening methods and a nature first philosophy with the appearance of a traditional English country garden.

Created from scratch by the owner between 2003 and 2009, Old Bladbean Stud is a unique blend of traditional features and cutting-edge environmental gardening, with a gardening philosophy and maintenance methods designed to harness natural systems, such as evolving populations of ornamental species, all wildlife welcomed and absolutely no watering. The garden was designed, created and is maintained entirely by the owner and was voted The Nation's Favourite Garden in the South East in 2023 by readers of The English Garden Magazine. The three acre site features a romantic walled rose garden with eighty old fashioned rose varieties, tranquil yellow and white garden, a square garden with a tapestry of self-sowing perennials and Victorian style greenhouse, 300ft long colour schemed symmetrical double borders and an organic fruit garden.
It is a private garden only open on selected Sunday afternoons during the summer through the National Garden Scheme.
