Discover this amazing Dutch styled Jacobean House built in 1672 and flint walled garden which has been run organically for 80 years! Do not expect well manacured gardens but instead soak up the atmosphere of this wonderful place.
Wiveton Hall near Holt in Norfolk is surrounded mainly by informal wildlflower areas, with various trails through the cow parsle andmeadows. The grounds are not manicured but are wildlife friendly including a wildlife pond, and have a magical atmosphere.
There is an adjoining well tended flint stone Walled Garden with a combination of flowering plants and vegetables. All the Gardens have beemn organically maintained over the past 80 years.
The property is now owned by Desmond MacCarthy who continues his mother's legacy . Chloe, Desmond's mother, nurtured them herself until she passed away at 103. She herself was inspired by William Robinson pioneer of the Wild and Naturalstic Garden movement back in the second half of the 19th century.
The current gardeners are mother and daughter team Amanda and Poppy Bennett, who tend to them year-round with love and a desire to keep them true to Wiveton Hall.
Chloes husband Michael MacCarthy's father had links with the Bloomsbury Group, who lived at Charleston in Sussex.
