Hidden Valley Gardens, near St Austell
Hidden Valley - Award winning garden - the most colourful Summer Garden in Cornwall
Hidden Valley Gardens - The overall design has been to create different plantings of interest, all linked by paths and with a main ‘route’ to tour the gardens.
The beds/borders each have a theme; some are plants collections such as Dahlia, Crocosmia, & Agapanthus, others are colour combinations.
The planting is an informal cottage garden style with lots of herbaceous perennials and self-seeding annuals, giving colour throughout the season. There is a pond area with wildlife and bog planting, a shady fernery, a primrose garden,& spring garden with snowdrops & hellebores. There are also Japanese & Mediterranean areas and Iris Bed.
The garden is productive with fruit trees and soft fruit bushes. Garden features have been added including a stone Gazebo, a stone well house built over a spring, a Water Feature powered by solar energy and a raised pond with a fountain near the house.
The Garden has been featured in a numbers of books/magazines including the RHS Garden magazine. It has also won Cornwall Tourism Awards both as a Garden and ‘Wildlife Friendly’ location.
