Bodenham Arboretum and Visitor Centre, near Kidderminster
Bodenham Farm and Arboretum is set in a double valley covering 160 acres. The epicentre lies around the big pool and Visitor Centre.
Bodenham Arboretum and Visitor Centre - Nurtured since 1973, it is a tapestry of plantations, pools and avenues, beautifully landscaped to include 3,000 species of trees and shrubs. Rare and ornamental trees can be seen in flower or fruit at all times of the year, autumn colours being spectacular.
Habitats provide a myriad of insect and bird life. As the season progresses snowdrops, daffodils, primroses, bluebells and foxgloves line the woodland walks. Azaleas and rhododendrons begin mid spring and the laburnum tunnel is a highlight in May/June.
Herefordshire cattle, sheep and donkeys can be seen grazing in the fields with rare breeds of poultry in the chicken runs. At Christmas time the Nativity story is told as a “Follow the Star” Christmas quiz through the old farm buildings with Bodenham’s animals taking the centre stage.
2018 - Bodenham Arboretum - Open most of year - see website for details. Free entrance to the Visitor Centre provides tree and plant sales, a gift shop and restaurant, serving a full range of home-cooked food and cakes. The daily carvery is supplied with Bodenham Herefordshire beef, pork and lamb.
