Winsford Walled Garden,

Garden Holidays Banner

Tucked away in the beautiful North Devon countryside is Winsford Walled Garden. The original garden owner's family can be traced back to the
Cornish artist Henry Bone R.A. (1755-1834), through the most famous of all Victorian African Big Game hunters, Capt. F.C. Selous, friends of
whom included US President Theodore Roosevelt.
In the past, there were 30 gardeners and 500 linear feet of greenhouses.
Today, features abound in this inspirational garden for the summer, with Agapanthus, Cannas, ornamental gingers, herbs and large numbers of
herbaceous perennials.  The 300' south wall grows subtropical climbers.
Developing bamboo grove and alpine house.  Beautiful teak Victorian
greenhouses.
