The walled garden at Seaforde most probably dates from the early eighteenth century. The exact age of the walled garden is unknown but it is recorded in an estate map of 1750. Seaforde Demesne has been the home of the Forde family since the early seventeenth century, so it is not inconceivable that there might have been a garden here during the latter half of the seventeenth century
The visitor first enters a five acre walled garden, which is divided into two halves, through the North door. The exact age of this part of the garden is unknown but the large enclosing wall is recorded in an estate map as early as 1750.
Half of the walled garden is a commercial nursery while the other half is a lovely garden with many flowering plants including the National Collection of Eurcryphia.
See the garden from the Mogul Tower.
