Larmer Tree Gardens - 'Secret Gardens of Wiltshire'-Hidden away deep in the Wiltshire countryside are the historical gardens of General Pitt Rivers.
The gardens were popular in the late 1800s attracting over 44,000 visitors a year who also had picnics and watched plays in the Singing Theatre - now restored. The gardens then lost their way but were restored in the early 1990s.
Acres of charming ( mainly trees and shrubs ) gardens to explore with Roman temple, water features. Inhabited with free flying Macaws and ornamental birds. Gift shop, plant sales, licensed tea room. The Generals Roman temple and Indian room with Nepalese carving form a striking backdrop for newly planted borders, dells and arbours. 12 acres in all to see.
