Kingston Lacy,
Nr Wimborne Minster

This 17th century house - Kingston Lacy - by Sir Roger Pratt is surrounded by parkland with a fine collection of trees.
The gardens have been extensively restored over recent years.
The Lady Walk Japanese Gardens have been restored to their Edwardian heyday but will take time to mature (designed in 1915 when Japanese gardens were all the rage in Britain). At the time of our visit September 2005 you could only view from the outside fence.
In the New Year there are good displays of snowdrops  followed by daffodils, bluebells, rhododendrons and azaleas.
In the summer the formal borders look good but they are not extensive.
Woodland walks.
