The
garden landscape at Harewood House has been intimately bound to the House
from its beginning.
In 1758, as the proportions and foundations of
the House were being laid out, the shape of the surrounding landscape was
being determined by the designer Lancelot 'Capability' Brown for the
Lascelles family.
The fabulous Italianate terrace with grand parterre is the highlight but
plenty more to see with Rhododendrons, rare and exotic plants, grand
displays of daffodils in the Spring. The garden a includes an extensive
walled garden, rose garden as well as the Himalayan Garden opened in May
by Alan Titchmarsh.
Gold award and category winners of Yorkshire in Bloom Country Houses,
Estates and Gardens 2010. Trevor Nicholson our head gardener won the
prestigious Professional Gardener of the Year award in 2009.
