Chesters Walled Garden

Chesters Walled Garden - Nestling at the foot of Hadrian’s Wall, this garden has a very special atmosphere. The relaxed style of gardening gives a freedom to the planting that is exuberant and informal. Wildflowers are combined with rare perennials to fill the box-edged borders, often spilling over onto the gravel paths.
With one of the largest collections of herbs in Britain, Chesters Walled Garden has two National Collections of Thyme and Marjoram. A small Roman herb garden shows the plants the Romans grew during their occupation of Britain.

Organically run, the garden attracts a great diversity of wildlife including red squirrels.
