Castle of Mey

Castle of Mey - This romantic and unique garden is the most northerly on our guide and proves that it is possible to make a garden in the most unlikely places.
One of the Royal Gardens, it is set on the Pentland Firth with its strong winter gales and cold winds, but protected by the wall of Mey.
Under the control of the late Queen Mother the Garden has a wide selection of plants including roses and climbers.
There is also a Kitchen Garden with many vegetables chosen for their resistance to salt and the winds.
