Balmoral Castle, Aberdeenshire

Balmoral Castle has been the Scottish home of the Royal Family since it was purchased for Queen Victoria by Prince Albert in 1852, having been first leased in 1848. 
The gardens which were started under the supervision of Prince Albert, have been expanded and improved by successive members of the Royal Family.
The formal gardens, covering some three acres, also contain a range of glasshouses and the conservatory. These are all designed to be in full flower between August and October when the Royal Family are in residence.

2008 Balmoral Castle Gardens - the grounds, gardens and exhibitions will be open on a daily basis from Saturday 29th March until Thursday 31st July. Opening times are from 10.00 a.m. until
5.00 p.m., however please note that the last recommended admission is at 4.00 p.m.
