Ascog Fernery

Ascog Hall, with it's award-winning Victorian fernery and enchanting garden, can be found on the beautiful island of Bute in the Clyde estuary - only a virtual stone's throw from Glasgow and Edinburgh. Without a doubt, the most remarkable feature is the rare sunken Victorian fernery covered by a glass house, rescued from ruin and restored to its former glory in 1997.
Beautiful gardens surround the fernery also restored after decades of neglect, yet still retaining the ambience of a much older garden, evocative of bygone days. The gravel garden has views over the coastline just yards away.
